My advice maybe out of date now, but I'd go for an internal HDD and a powered external caddy with USB. That way you're assured of a good supply of electrickery.
that explains why it worked, no I didn't reboot :( DOH!
Any way an observation if I may.
I think the wiki is excellent and well put together, there's an enormous wealth of information on there.
But it could do with simplification and clarification in some places.
Me, I'm a tech head and...
Looks like a bug in the web interface, once you remove the user it doesn't default back to the old non user name.
I suggest someone else try it and keep a coy of the cfw upgrade handy.
It's not an ip problem, the ip is set manually on the hummy and bookmarked on my iPad and desktop. Besides it...
I made a booboo, I deleted my account for the web access, I was constantly getting username and password requests on my iPad, and it was annoying to keep typing them in.
So I deleted the access from the settings, now I cannot access the web server.
Any idea how I can get it back please?
I tell a lie, it's in HD mode after the last boot.
Looks like a physical off/on drops HDR mode. But a soft boot keeps it in HDR (I think).
More tinkering required. I see no reason to turn it off once its in HDR mode though.
During the night I left the box on, copying to the virtual drive, but something went wrong and it rebooted itself.
got up this morning, turned it off/on changed ip settings, rebooted once again and everytime it stuck in HDR mode.
The copy went fine too.
I tried to stream to the PlayStation 3 and iPad, both kind of worked, but struggled like hell.
So playback on the PC is the only way for now.
Next silly question:
Is it possible to copy from the humax HDD to the PC hdd via a network share, and while it copies it removes the encryption?
ie...
well I thought I'd cracked it, it looks like HD recordings dont work. I can see a thumbnail of the video icon on my desktop, but nothing plays the file.
and as you can see from the uploaded image, there is a green Dec icon appended to the files in the virtual folder.
so far only SD recordings...
Yeah, sorted at last. Copy the files you want, to the virtual folder.
Must be done with the opt+ on the human remote via the media screen.
Then copy from there to the pc or stream it.
Took some doing but I got there.
Could do with a decent external hdd, my other was a 40gb and I think it's...
I'm trying something else, I've just installed a second hdd and I'm copying content to that.
No doubt it'll be ext3 too so can anyone recommend a good ext3 reader for windows?
Ok I know I must be doing something wrong.
I've got the HD PVR into HDR PVR mode, but I still cannot get the files decypted and playing on my PC.
I've made sure the all the files have the enc flag turned off by using opt+
I've installed all the scripts, made sure they are unix compliant...
ah it's working, I was just about to try the username and password provided here: http://hummy.tv/forum/threads/easy-ftp-setup.397/#post-4783
Sorry about that... so much to read!
