Yes it's possible and probably easier.
Use the FTP server on the HDR (either vsftpd or tinyftp package) and something like filezilla on the PC.
I've had speeds of around 7MBytes/sec (as reported by filezilla) for the HDR to PC transfer.
I think it varies depending in the channel tuned to. If you check on say BBC1HD ( which I think is 7 seconds delayed) then switch to E4Extra (over 1m fast) the time jumps by 80 seconds. Plays a bit of havoc with timed recordings.
Glad you got it sorted, but for what it is worth, even though the on screen file manager does create a .usr directory, I'm unconvinced it is part of the mechanism for the HDR recognizing the file sets.
I've used all flavours of Foxsat custom firmware since mogie's telnet hack.
CF is used daily...
When you ran fixfilepaths did the log show anything untoward such as mismatched file set ?
I'd suggest using filezilla to transfer a small subset of file sets from the 400GB backup to the HDR.
Preferably choose some file sets that you backed up with filezilla and some with ext2explore.
Use...
MikeSh - thanks. I got 'Recording Failed:unable to track programme' on the T2 for The Wall, which I think means the AR programme start signal never came.
The test recordings this morning on C4, E4 and More4 using Foxsat and T2 all appear to have worked, except the first one set which was...
I'm not convinced it is working properly. A test recording last night on More4 didn't record on the Foxsat.
Neither did a scheduled recording on the T2 for the Walter presents The Wall cover Your Tracks which is odd.
A further test recording on the Foxsat failed this morning.
Just trying some...
I'm glass-half-full on this.
The channel 4 EPG is now populated up to and including House of Craft at 05:55 on Thursday March 2nd, so I'm counting 7 days worth.
Yesterday (Wednesday) the most forward it would reveal was The Simpsons on Saturday Feb 25th at 05:55 which was 3 days worth.
That's a...
Black Hole,
It is not unknown on Freesat and usually gets corrected at some point.
sine24,
I was unclear, sorry.
Thanks for confirming it is not just me.
Cheers.
The EPG for the Channel 4 group of stations all seem to show blank on my HDR after 5:55 on Saturday 25th.
Both Webif and on screen copies on the Foxsat HDR are affected, but Freeview is looking ok.
First noticed on Sunday AM that some Saturday night series hadn't moved to the coming weekend.
I...
You're welcome.
If you select an HDR folder and use the FTP option in Raydon's AV2HDR when you create the file set instead of filezilla it negates the requirement.
The HDR keeps track of file sets if it records them itself or if they are moved via the remote control.
If a file set is...
Try using the Webif rename function on the film. Click on the OPT icon, then select 'Rename' and then update. You don't actually need to change it but you can if you want to confirm something has changed.
Then check to see if it is visible in media.
Can you provide a bit more information ?
1) If the "disconnect all my equipment and reinstall" was the trigger can you tell us what exactly you did ? Just a physical power down, re-arrangement of cables or whatever should not have caused loss of access, so what else happened ? Something like...
Telnet - if you have it installed, on the Foxsat is unsecured - no credentials are required at all, so it is the backdoor which allows password reset. For more security, the recommendation is to disable telnet and install dropbear ssh on the foxsat
SSH - if you have it installed will require a...

Nick,
One way FTP is a bit odd - any firewalling on your PC ?
What messages does filezilla report when attempting the inbound transfer?
You should see these in the filezilla Message Log section - usually near the top of the filezilla window.
If you can't see the message section, click 'View'...
