Well the manufacture date of the two boxes was over a year apart. Maybe some of the components inside have changed/different supplier?
The HDMI connection works ok when the PVR is not recording. I have to manually select it with the Sony kit but the picture displays ok/PVR behaves normally.
Well considering my "refurbished" box was full of someone elses recordings and already tuned in it would seem that Humax can't even be bothered to do a factory reset or hard drive format on them. Not to mention the filthy remote control!
I know its an old thread but I now have the same problem. I had a HDR-T2 that I returned to John Lewis as it had disk faults when recording. They swapped it for a reconditioned model. If my "new" box starts recording while the Home Cinema Amp/TV is turned off I cant get a picture when I turn...
Well John Lewis technical support on the phone said it would have to be sent away (turn around time about 10-14 days) but when I took it to the Cheadle branch they swapped it immediately. It might be a different matter if they didn't have a spare refurbished one in stock. I am a bit suspicious...
Returned box to John Lewis (2 months left on a 24 month guarantee). They immediately swapped it for a refurbished one with a new 1 year guarantee. They said they don't bother sending them back for fixing anymore whilst the customer waits. So far it seems to be ok. Recorded programs are fine...

Model : HDR FOX T2 500GB
Serial : 63710430900323
Hard Drive Serial: 6VV3BJZS
Returned 6th Nov 2012.
Faults: Recordings all glitched and skipping. Live TV of same shows (watched via the Humax) were fine. Reformat did not fix it.
Occasional "Media" button would not work. This would also have...
Thanks Jack616. I think I've come to the conclusion that I need to change the box. Its still under warranty so it can be John Lewis/or Humax problem to solve it. The issue is regular. I've tried all the disk related stuff to fix it. Everything else about the box seems ok. I've removed all the...
No worries. Will do once I have confirmed return arrangements with John Lewis/Humax. I am going to try and push them for a full refund so I can re-buy one from them with another full 2 year guarantee!
I was just wondering when you get the message "channel is scrambled or not available" during a playback of a recording, is that message part of the recording or generated by the box when the playback glitches so much that it cant display it properly? If so, it might explain why I keep getting...
Ah ok Ezra. I didn't know it if it was custom firmware related or not (still don't know) when I posted it. Feel free to move it the other forum if you think it it appropriate.
I've been through a prolonged fix-disk and bad sector reallocating exercise already, as detailed in the previous posts on this thread but it hasn't improved anything.
I read about similar glitches people were having and removing the custom firmware resolved it (there is a post somewhere in the custom firmware forum). So, just to be sure I have now removed all custom firmware, factory reset, hard drive format. I will see how it runs now when recording HD over...
I am having a similar problem. Started over a month ago. Previously all recording were ok. I'm running Custom Firmware. My 500gb box is 21 months old.. I get no glitching when I watch live tv (SD or HD) but get glitches in recording. HD channel recordings are now unwatchable. I thought it was a...
OK. So I just did a test. I watched live BBC1 HD (signal strength 80%, quality 100%) and it was perfect. At the same time I recorded it. When I watched the recording it was stop/start, no sound, and occasionally a message flicked up saying this "channel is scrambled or not available". The HDR...
I don't have any channels listed above 800. I've found that Channel 57 relates to this, none of which I watch and none are repeated in other channel listings.

If I understand the Digitaluk.co.uk postcode checker correctly then I am not missing any channels from Winter Hill as I have 54,55,58,59,61 and 62.
Channel 57 doesn't feature on any of the Transmitter Charts for the local area.
I will check it later. I've not noticed any problems/glitches whilst watching live tv through the PVR. Just on the recordings or timeshifting. And I'm not getting messages saying recording failed due to poor reception, which I would previously get very occasionally. Also all the freeview...
