That makes sense, there was a recording running when we tried this. Just as easy to not show the options as have more screens asking to cancel recordings or continue etc.
Thanks John
Hi, I have just put a double lnb on the dish but set the box up with only one but no way to recognise second feed.
I have seen posts here about hidden menus using coloured buttons but not for this problem. There is an online video on youtube showing a 1000s box with system settings showing...
I am still looking for a new PVR and reckon the Humax is still best option but... loss of the copy facility as in my old Foxsat box is a bit of a stumbling block.
I came across a post saying 'My Media' was available on these and implying it can do this, but as usual no real conclusions...
No idea why not but Humax tech support don't know. Better still they said they didn't know what I meant by an AV HDD, but maybe they are technical in the sense of how the software works rather than hardware.
Sarky replies don't help much, if you don't know for sure then no need for the italics...
Hi all
My old Humax has an HDD problem and I am looking at replacing it with a WD AV drive (as advised on another thread) or now maybe buying a replacement 1000S 500GB new model.
I asked support what drives were in the new ones but they were not sure, still waiting for an e-mail response so they...
Thanks for the info.
I only need the same size again, or even smaller, a 250gb drive would do nicely. I have only ever reached 45% full on a (I think) 320gb drive.
I like the external drive on an 'extension' cable idea as they can be swapped out as required.
Hadn't heard of AV drives but looks...
Just another thought.
I considered using SATA extension cables and removing the HDD from the machine altogether. I can then plug in any HDD I like to the cables outside the machine ?
Any HDD types to avoid, I was thinking of a 320GB laptop drive as they are usually cool and quiet ?
Hi
I noticed recently that I sometimes get a quick pause in playback of some channels. Seems random.
The picture 'clicks' for a split second, best analogy is a bad scratch on and LP (for those who can remember such things), a quick 'click' then back to normal.
Could just be the channels but...
That could be it, usual 'urbam myth' scenario. Someone heard of that and it got changed to the companies doing this to shorten times to maipulate the schedule.
Sounds right Graham, had to be something like that.
Just tried recording on Auto and all working fine now.
What must have happened is, as I specified extra time start and finish, the auto was ignored but BBC in particular were running late by a few mins, or more, on some programs.
They do this a...
Thanks for the confirmation of the settings. Signal and quality normally 100%, occasional drop to 90% quality on main channels.
Other stuff, horror etc, can be lower but never less than 60%. I think that is due to low transmission power etc, but main 4 channels and Film 4, my usual viewing...
Just an addition to this as I read about a bit and found a post where it was suggested that adding a few minutes to the start/end times actually interfered with the automatic stop start function - true or false ?
So would I be better off removing the additional minutes and take a chance on the...
Anybody else having a problem with these lately.
All other channels are ok, I have the box set to add 3 mins to start and end of recording but BBC is still failing from time to time.
Recorded a movie last night and lost the last 2 mins (some movie and all titles) so actually 5 mins short of...
Thanks for that, it is knowing the right words. I was looking for record in the document and wouldn't have thought of edit or new reservation.
Reason I asked is that I have been having trouble with files over 4GB and copying to memory sticks. A long story and in another thread.
In short this...
Still don't think so, mine is a standad HDR and not a T2 (which I think is a newer one ?) and is why I am unsure as I have no idea what I am doing. Ok for those who understand such things and know what the results should be but all smoke and mirrors to me.
I may try a Humax update to latest...
I appreciate the confidence Mike, so if it doesn't work after a reflash ypu will come round and fix it ? :)
Box isn't broken just original software, probably not the best but it works.
I know someone who switched to Linux so may ask him to format the drive.
With a Foxsat standard HDR is it possible to do this ?
I just assumed it was but never had to but now think I have a use for the facility.
Just read throught the manual (search pdf file for 'record') and only the standard selecr record from the OSD seems available. True or false ?
Thanks but I may have to give up on this, I tried Ext2 and it just gives the 'use Ext3 or Fat32' message again.
I am not comfortable with updating software on the Humax, I am more of an 'if it ain't broke' type and am worried that as I would have no idea what I am doing it would go wrong and I...
