Thanks guys, I will have a play with shrinking on the Humax as well. I agree not many HD programs are actually 5.1 - but the XBMC specifically flags up some as being 2-channel and some as being 5.1 channel. VideoRedo also describes the ones I think are 5.1 as being 6-channel.
I suppose a...
Thanks guys, for all the responses. For whatever reason, using VideoRedo (the only simple and reliable way I have found of editing Humax .ts files and extracting the .mpg for SD files) does not like extracting .mp4 from the HD .ts files - but it seems to like extracting .mkv files from the HD...
Thanks Ezra.
Yes - I am using the H.264 version of VideoReDo. So it sounds like it makes no difference whether I extract to MP4 or MKV then ? Don't think it is a space issue - the drive it is writing to has more than 100GB left. Makes sense with the smaller file sizes due to stripping stuff...
Hi Everyone,
Quick question regarding the file format used by the Humax for the HD transport streams ...
Firstly, I have the custom firmware, and I have ensured all the recordings I am looking at are decrypted. I am still struggling to work with the HD .TS files though.
I read somewhere...
Spot on Black Hole. .ts files work and .mp4 files too.
Is this a limitation of MediaTomb ? The .mpg files work fine when I navigate to network / USB / etc and play them from there (though they don't have the FF/REW ability I was looking for), and they work fine when played from my NAS. This...
Hello again everyone. Well, I'm about to display my complete and utter naivety of all things Unix I think, but here goes ...
Installed MediaTomb on the Humax, and I can't seem to make it work. I think I followed the instructions correctly, and I have successfully managed to add the drive and...
Thanks to Black Hole & everyone else for their help. And thanks for moving it to the Custom Firmware section - a much better place for it.
I have installed MediaTomb and have had a play - it all looks promising so far. I have formatted my external HDD as NTFS again, and copied a couple of...
Thanks Black Hole & prpr. I had not appreciated that it treats files on the NAS differently from those on an attached USB drive. I should have thought of that - it might scupper my simple plans a little !
Black Hole - If I read your last paragraph correctly, it sounds like I may be able to...
Hello Everyone,
Extremely happy with my Humax recorder so far ( had it since Christmas). I have been dragging some decrypted SD files off it, editing with VideoReDo, and storing them on a NAS. The Humax then plays them back fine.
The wife is struggling with using the NAS (booting it up and...
Hi everyone,
Thanks for the suggestions. I tried the renaming trick and it did work. Only thing that didn't seem to work was the aspect ratio flag wasn't right, but otherwise the video & audio were good. Now I'm on the prowl for a way to edit the AR flag in the MPEG file header ...
Anyway...
Hi Black Hole & Graham,
Thanks for the responses. My workflow (from memory) was to use DVD Shrink to open the ISO file, then save as a VIDEO_TS folder. Then join the relevant .vob files from within the VIDEO_TS folder using Simple File Joiner (very useful bit of freeware). This bit I was...
Thanks for the info. Does the same apply to extracting MPG from DVD .vob files ? I have a bunch of my DVDs stored as ISOs on my network for my old XBMC to read. Unfortunately neither my TV, BluRay, or my new Humax will read them. When I tried to extract the MPG from them losslessly (I think...
Slight update to the above. I'm not sure the MPEG extraction from the web interface is working properly. First one went OK, on a 40-minute program. Tried it on a few longer files (films - around 2 hours) and they didn't work so well. They won't play back on the Humax without stuttering, and...
Hello Everyone,
Having bought a Humax HDR Fox T2 at the weekend (and am extremely pleased with it), I have what are probably a few "noobie" questions. I apologise if it is bad etiquette to ask such questions as a first post.
I have installed the "custom firmware" in order to be able to...
