Thanks for the link you provided. It does appear to be the same problem and provides circuit diagrams. I am not an electronics engineer, just someone who hates throwing thigs away when they stop working. I will get it looked at by someone who does know what they are doing!
My HDR power supply has blown a capacitor (I think - see centre of picture). I assume that this is easy to replace if you know what you are doing?
Any ideas about what sort it is so that I can get it replaced? Any help gratefully received.
