That's super strange! Well. Uh. Thanks for all your help @prpr, it's much appreciated. I'm currently running okay but will report back if anything further occurs!
Thanks @prpr, the database rename has worked.
Once I access it, I get a disk diagnostic fault I don't think had been there previously. Might explain it?
Oh dear! It looks like the whole base database might have become corrupted.

Hi chums,
I've just tried to get into Web-IF (on one of my two boxes) today to download some recordings, but find it's not loading properly. A hard shut down cycle via the power button on the rear of the unit has not made any difference.
I get only the static header - without any of its...
It could always be coincidence, but this route - deleting all scheduled recordings, rebooting, then reinstating them - does indeed appear to have cleared up the problems for me.
Touch wood.
Right! Yes, that does look like the same problem indeed. Interesting to see it was first reported last year, at the very same time, early January.
I have a tentative possible success with the follow method and am now waiting on some more broadcasts to occur before I can confirm one way or the...
Box #1 has correctly recorded Would I Lie To You? tonight but has not picked up next Friday's broadcast.
Box #2 - the one that I flushed - now forgets its entire schedule every time it goes into standby.
I need an emoticon of a man bashing his head repeatedly against a brick wall.
I've flushed one box (#2), but upon restoring the schedule it was still not picking up future events. (At what point does the unit look for EPG updates and new broadcasts that match a series link? On the mid-night update?)
I then deleted all scheduled recordings, put it into standby, booted...
Thanks @Black Hole. The box that was all scheduled correctly last night is now incorrect (having recorded last night's Screw on Channel 4, but not picked up next week's), so I will perform that flush on both this evening and report back.
Okay, so to clarify then:
Both boxes were stuck in half-awake state, never going into standby with the satisfying HDD stopping click. They turned immediately back to full "on" without the system boot screen on HDMI out; straight into a TV picture.
Both boxes' power settings are Power Saving in...
Hi all,
I'm suddenly experiencing what I think mr-b is describing - but on two boxes at the same time and seemingly only since the new year. Certainly not before Christmas Day. Is it possible there's a bug in CFW or another package that could be causing it?
I have found all of these symptoms...
Of course; apologies for the delay, and thanks again to everyone who's advised so far. 'Just' that reallocated sector (line 5) now.

And just like that it completed.
So some fixes and modifications have taken place. Probably not surprising there may be those handful of dead sectors on the disk, given it's obviously not a brand new device.
Having booted back into normality, I run the HDD Test successfully and it passes...
Thanks for the tips, everyone. I'm currently running fixdisk (thanks Black Hole for your excellent, clear instructions).
It's been sat at 1-70 for the last hour or so, so I'm now rather worrying it's crashed, but I know it can take an age so will leave it overnight and report back.
Thanks Ezra, but looks like that's specifically about what new drive to get, with no particular diagnostic.
Predictably, within minutes of posting this thread the box suddenly clicked (partially) into operation. A live recording started being saved, and I was able to progress through the CFW...
Hi,
Following the death of my first box, I've just received a second-hand HDR-Fox T2 purchased on eBay. I've installed CFW, but am being told that it cannot find the hard disk.
Having attempted to record, nothing happens or appears in the Media browser. The Data Storage menu confirms a drive...
