I would assume that the electricity meter would store the data from both meters and only send cumulative readings to the billing system periodically or when polled..
As I understand it, only the gas meter has a battery and periodically communicates readings (about 1/2 hourly?) to the electriity meter. Hence the load is very light., The electricity meter then does the heavy lifting of both sets of data to the management system. It would be rather difficult to...
I had the feeling that heat around the heat sink had more effect. Perhaps you could try the blow torch there before you give up..
I also found that HD channels were affected before SD
Mine is still working OK after 8 nonths.
I have just been converted to FTTP and have retained my old BT number. This seems to be standard with most service providers nowadays.
The old land line had become unreliable and periodically noisy, even though the connection under the pavement outside had been recently dug up and renewed,in an...
Some of the regulars may remember a thread from eighteen months ago where I was investigating tuner difficulties following damage caused by a falling picture frame...

Inserting/removing a USB device did not fix the problem. I contacted Humax and they replaced the unit which was only a week old. I closed the thread on the other forum, but obviously forgot to close here.
Thanks. That is the actual board supplied by BH from which I salvaged the tuners. I was more interested in the component functional descriptions eg "tuners", "modulators" "regulators" etc
I did some work last year with help from BH but due to failing eyesight I could not reliably identify the relevant components. If anyone has photos similat to the one posted by /df above, It would considerably help me.
This sounds very like the problem I had this time last year. To save anyone from ploughing through the thread , I established that the tuners were not at fault (by substitution) and the signal was being lost later in the processing chain.
Applying heat by a hair dryer would restore the picture...
In modern parlance (not that I like modern parlance) "dissed" is short for "disrespected", and means insulted. I've never in all my engineering years come across it as an abbreviation for disconnected

All my working life I have understood that things going 'diss' or 'dissing' something...
Yes, I have similar thoughts, but the supplies look identical in the failed condition or not. I did notice that Newcoppiceman's capacitor was running about 15 degrees hotter than all the others that averaged about 37 degrees, but decided that as it is associated with the 12 volt supply, it...
A little further progress.
Removal and replacement of the tuners would eventually cause pcb damage, so I fitted sockets so that the tuners could be changed at will. Further work with the four tuners available proved that the fault was independent of the tuners, as I had previously suggested...
I eventually got back to my faulty machine yesterday and made some progress. Previously I had thought that the unit was searching for channels but nor accepting any. Having overcome the triggering problem with my scope, I can now see that instructions are indeed being sent to the tuners via the...
