  Thank you. I'll minimise usage. By the way, is there anywhere a guide to fixdisk options, as in extra command line switches that can be used? In researching my problem I came across a few places where there were "do fix-disk (as it was then) -P or other letters. Thanks again.

  In another thread is the rapid decline of my HDD so I'm moving on to replacement thinking. 1) I've ordered a drive (ST2000MV003) 2) Is this caddy the sort of thing I'll need to house my old HDD in order to copy recordings back over onto the new one when the new one has been formatted...

  Spoke too soon ... Watched some of a recording tonight and it went blank in the middle of playing, then no response to any buttons ... pause, stop etc. Had to turn off with the switch at the back, trying to run fixdisk again ...
