In that case, it's not for me. I'm looking for no user intervention - just the ability to stream any recording to a PC on the net, whether it's HD or SD. Auto-unprotect + XBMC will do that but with no transport control on the stream. Decrypted files will stream fine with WMP but the step is...
This is what I have (for a folder called "Hollyoaks") which would seem to be correct. There's nothing there yet though (scheduled recording), but I also kicked off unencryptsetup for an existing folder called "Earthflight" with two existing recordings in it. Those are the ones I was expecting to...
New to unencrypt. Followed the instructions on the Wiki and fired off unencryptsetup on a folder on the Hummy. What can I say - it doesn't work. Nothing decrypts. I need help...!
Sorry, you lost me a mile back.
All I want to do, is have the Hummy auto-decrypt what I tell it to, by folder / file, enabling others on the network to stream the result using VLC or WMP on their PCs. I thought this package would enable that to happen, but setting it up seems very complicated...
Sorry if I'm being dumb, but I can't find this package anywhere.
EDIT: Got it - the list was just verrrryyy slow to update. Now I just need to work out how to use it! ;)
No, I hadn't seen it. Thanks very much. Are you using this? I find the idea of specifying the folders to decrypt appealing. I'll have a play.... Do you need unencrypt and auto-unprotect?
Nope, doesn't work here. Nothing happens - VLC just sits there and does nothing. Look, don't worry - I don't want to spend any more time on it. Going back to the standard firmware.
Thanks anyway.
EDIT: Just discovered this by accident while browsing around. The Humax file shares in Windows...
I installed Samba, 'HUMAX' then became visible under 'Network' (Win 7), I could browse to a .ts file, select 'Play with VLC', VLC would start up...and then just sit there...nothing happened. All files decrypted. XBMC will not do this either and, sorry, I don't get what you mean by 'local' files...
Streaming is what I want, as this is to be used by 'ordinary users' on the home network who simply need to click and play...so VLC in that regard offers no advantage over XBMC which streams beautifully, albeit with no transport control. I get the feeling that the guys over there have dropped...
Can you guide me through what you're doing to stream with VLC? I'm currently using XBMC Beta 2 (Eden) which streams HD from the HDR FoxT2 with auto-unprotect enabled in the customised firmware - now fed up with lack of transport control.
Thanks.
I was wondering the same. If a few others from this thread would chip in and e-mail them as we have, it would at least add weight and maybe even escalate the problem at Humax.
