1100S Occasionally black screen

Every so often when we turn on tv and 1100s Freesat recorder, the screen on the tv is black.

The solution so far has been to pull the power cable from the back of the 1100S and plug it back in again. Is this a known problem? Is there any solution?
 
More info please. When you say "black", is that a black picture, or does the TV think it has no HDMI signal? Have you tried turning the TV off and on instead of rebooting the 1100S?
 
Black as no picture, not like when the there is no HDMI signal.

Turning the TV off on back on is the first thing we try but that does not help.

It's something that happens every few weeks.
 
So it seems like the fault is localised to the 1100S then, in which case the only option you have is to reboot the unit when it happens (which is what you are doing by disconnecting the power).

There are ways to make this less inconvenient: never put it into standby (minimising the opportunities for the HDMI not to start up properly); power it via a remote controlled mains socket (so power-cycling is easier).

It will be significantly inconvenient if this problem occurs while the unit is recording.
