Personally, I expect my Humax to have been the last PVR I ever buy (and that's not an age thing....).

Not yet, no - I can cope with at least one failure before I need to.

Back in 2010, a HDR-FOX was far and away the cheapest way into HiDef recording (T2 dongles were hardly available), and we established this community. Sooner or later, if we want to keep our community together, we will have to agree on a communal way forward.

It did cross my mind before that if af's server "dies" for some reason, the Humaxit community dies with it.
