CF user numbers. What are they?

I just looked at the number of members on this forum and saw only 8000. For some reason I had an impression that there should be much more. I do remember a discussion about this but can't find now. What would be the closer to the numbers of CF users? This 8k or the number of downloads of CF file. Or something else?

It's hardly necessary to be a member of the forum in order to install CF. And neither does the number of sign-ups reflect the number of active members – many sign-ups simply go away when they discover no spam is allowed.

8000 but the number of valid members is sure to be far lower. every day there are groups of bogus members showing here all viewing the same thread, some joined a day or 2 ago and some months ago. There are 2 even showing now ..........................

The forum covers all Humax AV products so doesn't reflect just CF users.
Downloads of the CF might be more reliable but there were problems with the download from Google and it had to be relocated so we don't really know how many have downloaded 3.13 plus some are still running on even older versions.
Not eveyone has signed up for Remote Scheduling either.
