connecting to net

Hi, gave up on trying to connect with WIFI so I bought a LAN cable and in settings it says I'm connected but if I try to use the Humax Portal it says I'm not connected. Now I put this down to not being registered with Humax on the MYHUMAX site so I tried doing that, but it tells me to enter my reg code which I can find by pressing the Portal button which just tells me I'm not connected to the Net. I know I'm missing something simple but what?
 
I've you tried forcing a connection via
MENU >> Settings >> System >>Internet Setting >> Configure LAN >> and then selecting 'Apply' ?
 
Yep, that's when it tells me I'm connected, but press the portal button and it tells me that I'm not. Also just checked my computer network and the Humax shows up there as connected.
