Disable recording of live TV

Hi
I've searched around and couldn't see any answers, but on my last two PVRs (Digital Stream and Toppy) you could switch off the constant recording of live TV - partly to stop wear on the HD, but mainly because the HD on my device is so annoying- sounds like conkers in a tin, a bit like HDs around 1990.

Any ideas? Is it possible at all?

Is it possible to disable time shifting?

Hi, I was just wondering if it was possible to disable time shifting on the customized firmware? I couldn't find anything in the official firmware on it. By this I mean the fact that the Humax unit writes the current channel to disk on the off-chance that you want to pause live TV. On my...

I suspect Black Hole didn't notice which Forum section he was in. You are correct it isn't possible to disable the writing to the time shift buffer (other than by tuning to a channel that isn't broadcasting anything).
