Fast Forwarding and Rewinding Issues

Hi Guys

I have come across a new issue on my HDR, it doesn't fast forward or rewind properly, the picture breaks up and is very jerky, and the time stamp doesn't move across the time bar.

So if I am trying to find a particular spot in a file, I can't do it as i used to be able to do it easily.

Any ideas?

Could you have been doing a bulk deletion at the time the recording was made? Does it happen when playing every recording or just that one?

No I wasn't doing any bulk deletion, and I have just tested older recordings (that were recorded earlier than Wednesday 14th November 2o12, that was the date I first noticed the issue, and I put it down to a faulty recording), and they all work OK when fast forwarding or rewinding.

I can't see what could have changed on the box this week to cause this issue, apart form any Custom Firmware changes, I could always remove CF and see if that resolves the issue, unless anyone has any suggestions for trying to find the culprit, if there is one?

Do you do anything to the files automatically like decrypt or shrink? If so, how are the copies in the bin?

Anything odd shown on hard disc diagnostics?

Yes, I do autodecrypt and shrink, and I always simply delete the original files, so unfortunately I can't test them:oops:

Here is the latest HDD, not sure if anything is obvious, I still haven't learnt what to look out for!

There was a recent change to shrink to improve playback on DLNA capable TVs. It shouldn't have caused these issues but can you try a before and after file to check?

Right, test recording done, and I can confirm that if I play both the original files in either the autodecrypt or auto shrink folders they fast forward and rewind as you would expect, but the shrunk and decrypted file judders and fails to skip properly (as I also found that skipping forward and then trying to skip backwards fails, it will "stick" in one particular place)!

I've reverted the change to the web interface so if you upgrade to 0.10.0-5 you should be back to normal.
The problem only occurred with recordings that were decrypted before they were shrunk so wouldn't have affected everyone.

Just to confirm, all back to normal, cheers again af123 for identifying what was the cause, and the very quick rectification!
