HDR-FOX T2 shutting down / picture break-up

Turns out it's not the HDD at fault. It's been working with a different Seagate Pipeline drive all week, and all WAS working well until sometime in the last 30mins.

Just came back in the room to see the Humax start-up screen frozen on the TV and the front display stuck on Cust FW3.13

So goes back to my original theory that it must be power supply related in some way.

It's just crashed again, so that's twice in about 60-90mins. Picture froze with the sound still working. Remote didn't get any response from the machine, then it rebooted, but this time it's rebooted successfully without sticking.

So I'm at loss with this machine, it's not the hard drive as that's been swapped for a very low hours if not new old stock drive.

Question is what is causing the freezes and shutdowns? From reading other posts the SMD capacitor on the motherboard seems to cause boot up issues, but nothing mentioned about it causing the box to freeze and shutdown.

That's just the one particular capacitor that's been studied. Heaven knows what failure modes might result from a different capacitor (or other component) going out-of-spec.
