There is a report over on MyHumax.org that a recently purchased FVP-5000T will not reliably come out of standby. Apparently there is a recorded message on the Humax help line apologising about the problem and stating that a software fix will be made available. My guess is that Humax have changed something during the production run (most likely the type of hard drive) and not tested properly. The most viable workaround would be to leave the box on permanently until the fix is available ((Turn off Automatic Power Down in Settings> System Settings> Power Management and don't press the standby button).
