Humax YouView remote partially reusable on HD[R] Fox-T2

After recovering the thinnest ever 500GB disk from a scrap BT YouView box (DTR-T2 2100, supplied by Humax), I tried out its remote control (RC3124705/03B). The remote is quite slick but the cursor functions are closely surrounded by volume, Info, channel and Back buttons that are too easy to press by mistake, and vice versa.

It turns out that almost all the keys behave like the Humax HD/HDR Fox-T2 remote.

In case anyone needs to take advantage of this, the not completely obvious mappings are:

  • BT Player = TV Portal
  • YouView = MENU
  • Close = EXIT

These otherwise unreachable functions aren't available:
  • OPT+
  • AUDIO
  • SOURCE
  • SLEEP
  • V-FORMAT
  • Add Bookmark
  • Show Bookmark List
  • Slow Play

This button that might work doesn't
* AD

These otherwise reachable functions aren't available:
  • MEDIA
  • LIST
  • TV/RADIO
  • WIDE

These buttons don't map through:
  • Zoom
  • Help

Difficult to see how one could manage without the OPT+ button (although of course there may be CF solutions for that).

There have been 3 visually different versions of the BT slim remote supplied with the DTR-T2100.
The first version with the silver direction pad and the silver OK button was not so problematic. This is because the surrounding 8 buttons are less high nearer the central silver section, and also the silver direction pad is similar with it being lower nearer the OK button and higher along its outer edge.

(The remote on the far right is for the newer BT youview sagecom model. It also uses the Humax mode 1 codes. It has even less buttons, but the sagemcom does respond to all the buttons on the other BT/Plusnet youview remotes, including their pause buttons. It has bluetooth, some (but very limited) voice control, and can set up its TV button via the sagecom box which can recognise which TV you have through its HDMI connection. )
