Is it possible to have recordings over a certain age be removed from the DVR ?

To do that you will need to tell Sweeper to check the age in hours and then to delete the recording.

For the relevant folder, while browsing in the WebIf, click on OPT+ and it is one of the options

I think auto-expire will serve your needs best, as it lack the complexity of sweeper and doesn't require any more packages installed. I have, for example, set just my News folder to expire recordings after 7 days.

There is, in fact, a non-custom way to do it: the HDR menus offer Menu >> Settings >> Preferences >> Recording >> Auto Delete >> OFF | ON. With that turned on, if the disk gets low on space the oldest recordings are deleted (except locked recordings).
