No sound!

Visiting my Mum over Christmas and her FVP5000 was operating normally. A new Amazon Firestick was installed in an additional HDMI slot, but since then the Humax’s sound has ceased! Pictures are normal and its own HDMI is located properly. Software is up to date as are the channels. We can hear sound as normal via either the TV’s tuner or the Firestick. Any idea how we can get the sound back?
 
It’s an LG 42 LA690 V and the Humax was connected to HDMI 2. However, because of your comment, I switched over to ARC HDMI 1, and the sound returned! I’ll switch back again tomorrow to see if the problem remains, but I wonder whether using the ARC port is better or worse or of no importance with the Humax?
 
LG TV have a mode called Deep Colour, when turned on it breaks the audio on some older HDMI devices. It's possible the mode was automatically turned on by the TV when you connected the FireStick as it has full HDR capabilities.

Not sure if ARC port would make a difference by itself, especially if you dont have a soundbar.
