To be fair, it feels like Britain's Got Talent was broadcast in 1970!

I had a problem with the HDR this week and wondered if this was related. I needed to run fixdisk and it seemed to say everything was o.k. but fixdisk said there was a large file. Fixdisk did not say which file was 'large'. I used this to FTP and see what files were above a certain size.

Code:
find / -type f -iname '*.*' -size +6800000k -print >> connect.txt

This saved to a file names of any files bigger than 6.19 GB. It showed up that there was one file 0. @17 GB. Which I thought strange. Also remote schedule there were entries for 01.01.70. or time 0 in Linux.

Check your disks ! Strange!

0.ts is the timeshift buffer. It reaches 17.63GB and then starts to overwrite itself. This is normal behaviour.

Looking further back in the nugget log date/times were fine in 0.97 but went haywire after updating to 0.98 (overnight 26/27 April)

Thanks - I will look into it.. In addition to adding the cryptokey stuff, 0.98 also refactored lots of existing code to make the system more modular.

Edit: just a one-line fix!

Yeah, and not just programmers, and it gets much much harder to keep all the threads in mind with age (to the extent that you can't get to the end of the maze even without interruptions)!

I didn't understand why anyone would want to be a manager when they used to be engineers (when engineering is so much more exciting) - I assumed it was about money. Now I realise it's about matching roles to competence, and as engineering competence declines the ability to see the bigger picture increases.

The trouble with that is that you then have to deal with people instead. And that can be a real PITA. Dumb boxes don't usually answer back (although that is changing it seems).

Agreed. But at least long-in-the-tooth-engineers-who-have-lost-their-edge (whether prepared to admit it or not) are generally better at that than wet-behind-the-ears bright sparks with no life skills.
