Just for the record I have a 2000T with no fan and replaced the hard drive with a 2.5 WD WD5000LUCT 500GB drive (5400rpm). I have checked the internal temperatures. Heat sink 51C, hard drive 36C. Ambient temperature 22C. These measurements taken when the unit was recording and playing back at the same time.
