I ask as the result is now returned all but instantaneously as opposed the seconds if not tens of seconds it took previously.
 
No, nothing has changed, but it should never have taken that long in the past!
 
I'm sure it took much longer before you did something 'at your end' a couple of months ago.
 
You can't legislate for network (Internet) performance.
That's the only change here - I went back to BT on Wednesday and this was the first check for updates I've done since. Before that it was PlusNet for a year, before that BT for a year and before that VM.
 
If you want to be sure it's still working, go to the command line (or via webshell) and run:

I have also noticed an improvement though wouldn't be able to say when it started - I'm not complaining!

Any change as seen from here happened after the last WebIF update, and I'm pretty sure I last checked for updates last weekend. AF123 will probably point out there's a log.
