Password Picking Policy

I read somewhere that you shouldn't put the site name in your password.

For example
456hummy322

Which got me thinking.

If I changed that password to

456-8543hummy322rrrr

Would the hummy part be encrypted to the same characters?

(obviously, using the same encryption on the same site)

Short answer - no.

I think using site name is discouraged to minimise the chances of third party guessing your passwords.
Eg if you used amazon123 and it was compromised, then there is a chance you'll use, say, google123 or hummy123, etc for other sites.
