Patches Package?

This is a well-known bug in the rs package that has never been fixed.

In lieu of being able to update the package repository, is it workable to issue (and host somewhere) a package which patches other installed packages?

I think it would be as simple to copy the entire package repository to another, updatable, location
But, of course, it requires someone to step up to lead the effort

Yes. As I've said before, I've done it for my own systems.
