Problem getting Maintenance mode

I''m trying to get maintenance mode on one of my Humax recorders with the 2TB pipeline drive attached (its been working fine). but I'm having problems with this function;
I used webif to select maintenance and reboot (also tried shutdown/startup from remote). initially it looks OK but at about 52sec countdown I hear the disk park and display goes off. Ring stays blue, but its off (normal standby I suppose).
I'll bring it out of standby and maintenance is announced. Here it may repeat the problem (then on next reboot it will exit maintenance) or show my boot LCN "Freeview".
Telnet currently show this:

OK, something wrong.
I then tried it with only telnet menu and either its coincidence or there's a webif function problem but its currently running fixdisk.
Though oddly it is NOT showing a % but just says "hmx_int_stor", the volume label I gave sdb2 on this 2TB disk the other day after formatting it.

Any ideas on this?

Which implies you got into Maintenance Mode in the end?

Hardly "normal" if the ring is blue!

Have you done a power cycle (at the rear switch)?

That doesn't strike me as odd, your volume label has simply filled the display.

Sorry yes, the VFD. I usually see a progress perstentage.
I’ve renamed the volume to something shorter. I’ll see next time I fixdisk.
