I expected that the BBC would turn on real 1920X1080 on BBC-HD in time for the Olympics, but I was a bit surprised to find the other 3 channels following suit so that not only BBC1-HD but also C4-HD and ITV1-HD have all switched from HD-Lite e.g. 1440X1080 to Full HD. They may switch back after the Olympics though so make the most of it

Having read the above article, it looks like the 1920X1080 may be permanent
