Sports Cam Video Problems

Black Hole

#1
As discussed in an 'Arms thread, I have acquired a GoPro knock-off.

I took a couple of videos with it locked off, and now want to extract a couple of sections from each and compile them to DVD.

Transporting the video files to my PC (on the original media card) results in .mp4 files which won't play in Splash Lite, but will in VLC and they open in VideoReDo.

I extracted the clips to new MP4s, then assembled them in a list to create a DVD (all using VideoReDo). The creation process repeatedly bombs out when it gets to the first clip from the second video. QuickStreamFix also bombs out on either of the clips from the second video, despite the original video file passing QuickStreamFix no problems. The clips from the first video are OK.

So then I tried ensuring that the edit points are on i-frames. No change.

Any ideas what I can do?

I'm currently using VLC to re-encode the clips. The result is a smaller file (by a factor of 6), but Splash Lite is happy with it (no audio though - OK in VLC).

Oh marvellous (not). VRD now says the clips don't have audio streams (when clearly they do). Try a different re-encode...

(I ought to be using Zen for this!)
