Start-up problem

Hi, I’m new to the forum so apologies if this has been covered before.

My start-up problem is that initially I get the message “no channels etc”. But if I do nothing after about 15-20 mins everything returns to normal. I have bought a very cheap decoder as a means of testing the signal and this works fine, so the problem seems to be with the Humax box. Any suggestions or do I have to accept its now worn out and I need to buy a replacement? In which case any suggestions as to what?

"Worn out" is an odd description for something with essentially no moving parts.

It sounds to me like a crack somewhere which makes contact once the unit has warmed up a bit. The crack could be internal to a component.

Electronics equipment lasts longer without such faults if not continually power-cycled.
