Still Recording Last Night's MOTD2

My HDR T2 is still recording last night's MOTD2.

There appear to be no options to cancel the recording available via the standard UI.

Is there an alternative to a harsh power down using the rear switch?

Any help gratefully received.

Did you set the recording via WebIF or RS, and have you got RTS enabled?

If yes, this is an example of the "runaway recording" bug we are aware of. If no, I don't think we've seen this happen before. Either way, there are some diagnostics which might help pin this down if you don't need to cancel it. It will stop of its own accord when you run out of disk space. @prpr @/df @MymsMan

There might be other diagnostic requests, but what's been asked for before (edited):

Find the "slot number" for the recording from WebIF >> Schedule (the numbers in the left hand column)

It is a series link recording, set via Web-IF.

RTS is enabled.

Ah, so those numbers in the schedule DO have a use!

Well, the box crashed, thus ending the recording before I could follow your advice.

Just had another runaway recording.

Richard Osman's House of Games on BBCTWO HD.

Thanks to BH's kind advice, I cancelled it by switching to the channel and hitting the Stop button.

Is it significant that I have had two such events in two weeks?

You didn't need to switch to the channel. Pressing "stop" brings up a menu of options regardless of which channel you have live.

I think this may have been broadcaster induced as both my machines that were recording this AND my Dad's HDR-2000 were still recording at about 18:55 when I spotted it.

As per BH: Pressing 'Stop and OK' stopped the recording.

I had no such problem, but I record StDef not HiDef. The above suggests it was not actually a runaway recording but a programme flag error. I take it you use AR?

Hmm. I wonder if perhaps my recording was also excess length without me noticing. It's been deleted (no undelete).

I would expect a flag error to correct itself at the start of a subsequent programme.

Maybe it stopped at the end of the 'next' programme. I didn't wait for it but stopped the recording at about 18:55. We are in the 'Snooker' zone so I wasn't that surprised when it happened.
