streaming to android tablet

I have two HDR Fox T2's and several Android devices. It's not something I have ever needed to do but more than willing to have a play to see what works. TBH I have never needed to stream to Android because you can freely stream between two HDR FOX T2's. If I want to watch on Android I download the files to my PC and copy to usb sticks/HDD drives. That way you can watch anywhere in the world if your Android device can play back from USB mass storage devices. Fortunately Android media players do normally support aac, so the audio may not be an issue. I will have a play and report what I find works. Which Android Device and what software version are you using ?

So would you say that every video / Audio player that can handle 2 encoded channels and produce an audio output, can also handle 6 encoded channels and produce an audio output?, if the answer is no, then it isn't at all irrelevant

Player DicePlayer - plays but very choppy
Kodi - Excellent playback

Samsung Galaxy S4 Phone running BubbleUpnp (Android 5.0.1 - Lollipop)
MxPlayer - Excellent playback

Notes No MXplayer on Nexus (If I installed I guess would also work), No Kodi on Phone (short of memory down to Lollipop memory requirements)

My need rises specifically because at times I have a rather noisy neighbour so the ability to stream to a tablet would enable me to avoid this noise as and when it occurs.

I have a galaxy tab S running lollipop (5.0.2)

Mediahouse and the other software (VLC media palyer) works ok its just that some of the hd files do not show, the folder shows but when opening there is nothing there.

I think it may be a problem with the tools in the custom firmware as this problem also occurs with a wd live media player.

I said no such thing, merely that the codec used have a different capability in encoding discrete audio channels.

Examples

MP2 - max 2 (stereo), AC3 and DTS 6 (6th being lfe channel-5.1), DTS Master-HD 8 channels (7.1). Playback depends on either the destination device having the required decoder or the serving device being able to recode using a codec the destination device it identifies it supports.

Try playing back a transport stream file with H264/AVC video and DTS 2.0 stereo audio on a media player that only supports AC3. You will get no audio at all.

I doubt it's anything to do with the custom firmware (without it providing decrypted HD content would be a real pain).

I have the CF on both boxes.

I would recommend you instal Kodi on the Galaxy tab (if you have enough memory). Otherwise Bubbleupnp and MXplayer should work as it does on my Samsung phone.

I have a Amazon Fire TV box as well (it has Kodi on it) but didn't try that out, at a guess that will also work OK.
 
I wonder if you could respond to the specific problem which is that of the original recordings on the T2, most of which despite decryption do not show. SD progs do show. Some HD stuff does show and play.

I have tried Kodi, same problem.

IE: I have 5 recordings of 'New Tricks' When opening the folder on the tablet only the last recording is there.

Using webif all recordings have the same sp ie New Tricks_20150901_2101.ts (1.95 GiB)
 
If you download one of the errant recordings to a PC and open it using MediaInfo can you post a copy of the treeview file analysis (you can export to a text file). Repeat for one that does work. Have you autoshrink installed ?

Looks to be perfectly normal. Can you play it back on the PC ? Be interesting to see if you remux it to a different name .ts using tsmuxer,gui and upload it as a external file you can then see it and stream it. I can't find any files on my HDR FOX T2's that I can't stream (I don't though use autoshrink, but that may or may not be a red herring).

Afterthought TSmuxergui if I remember correctly does not support aac audio so the uploaded file won't have any audio, unless you create a ac3 file and replace the aac audio with ac3 during the remux process.

The HE-aac audio track is used for Audio Description incidentally.

Do you have the capability to play video files directly from usb on your tablet (You might need a OTG cable - not familiar with your tablet). If so can it play the file directly ?
