Virtual disk stopped working

I just noticed that it doesn't come on after booting up anymore. That has messed up my HDD connection. Could it be as simple as uninstall and install again?

Removed then reinstalled and still doesn't work. When I plug a physical USB stick into the t2 the USB option appears again on the blue button storage option. Anyone know how to fix this?

Which version of virtual-disk2 did you install? To get the functionality you want you need to install the latest beta version, not the standard one.

I thought I had the normal one for the past 5 or 6 years. It worked just fine. Until recently.

Is there a way to confirm which version I had say last month?
My mistake. The latest version of virtual-disk2 is 2.02 whether or not you have the beta package repository installed. It only looks like a beta package if you have the beta version of NTFS-3g installed (it is a dependency of NTFS-3g).

Was the package definitely removed before you reinstalled it? To make sure, I would open a Telnet session and manually uninstall virtual-disk2 as follows:
Code:
opkg remove virtual-disk2 --force-depends
You should get a confirmation that it has been removed. I would then reboot and reinstall the package.

Surely I could not install it from available tab if I had not removed it in the first place.

I can't do as you suggested for a few hours.

Probably not, but it should be working. You could also try running the fix-flash-packages diagnostic. I think that virtual-disk2 runs in flash.

@mihaid - the packages poweron-channel and channeldel are deprecated and are no longer in the repository. To set the start-up channel etc. you will need to install the boot-settings package and to delete unwanted channels, the package you want is tunefix: both can be configured through Webif>Settings.
The diagnostic output you posted indicates that virtual-disk2 was removed and reinstalled successfully. The only thing I can suggest (based on past experiences reinstalling the flash package 'undelete') is to uninstall virtual-disk2, then reboot, reinstall the package and reboot again. If that does not work, I am stumped.

So, I could not do the met suggestion at the time because t2 was recording. Then I forgot about it. Yesterday I used the blue button to access Nas and it worked. Just out of the blue. Today I tried again and it's missing again. So it seems that the package works intermittently.

Any other suggestions?

correction needed. the yesterday thing did not happen. i thought it was working but it was not. what confused me was this: when copying a file from humax to nas with opt+ the nas shows up.

so in conclusion, virtualdisk2 is NOT working at all.

I imagine this is connected with mvdisks also not working. Something has been broken, but for some reason whoever broke it isn't fixing it. At the very least, there needs to be a regression.

@af123: do you know what's going on?
