What is the status of my Hummy?

A couple of days ago, starting my Hummy led it to "reinstall itself": it started with the "WIZARD" on the front display, and it scanned for channels etc. When restarted, it had lost its schedule. I read the firmware version wrong and thought it had lost the custom firmware, so I reinstalled it from the USB. I went on the web interface and it did not download more stuff, it looks as per normal. The schedule was empty, so I restored from back-up. The crash log shows no crashes since Sept 2024.

What is its status now? Are there other things that I need to do? Thanks in advance for any pointers.

The reinstall wizard is an unfortunately frequent occurrence on the humax and merely signifies one of its internal databases has become corrupt.

Letting the wizard run and then restoring schedule and favourite channels from backup is all that needs to be done.
There is no need to reinstall firmware or webif or anything else.

There have been some discussions on methods to skip the somewhat lengthy channel retuning in the wizard

Thank you both very much. I should be quite happy that this was the first time in the many years I have been running Hummies that this happened, then. I will take a look at Black Hole’s list at some point.

This is happening more often... In addition to doing the restoration of the scheduled recordings from Schedule->Backup/Restore, I also need to go on the PVR, into Menu->Settings-->System->Internet Settings->Content Share and set it to ON, for detectads (maybe other things need it too?). I thought this may help others too.

The Content Share and other setting can get lost even without the full setup wizard, to counter this there is the Boot Settings package which can ve used to ensure that Content Share et al are always set to your desired values at system boot.
Unfortunately it cant prevent the setup wizard

Thank you @MymsMan and @Black Hole for the helpful suggestions. Is System Flush the one described under Firmware Downloads? It looks drastic given my lack of memory or notes of what I did a long time ago and through the years. Or does Boot Settings or something else then bring it back where it is?

Yes. The description is a bit misleading, you run it as if it were a firmware update from USB, it isn't actually a firmware update.

It looks drastic
Don't you think it needs to be drastic, if you are hoping to stop the box reverting to the factory wizard? It is no more drastic than the wizard itself, except perhaps the need to fix-flash-packages thereafter. The idea is to eliminate inconsistencies in the flash file system, the same as running fix-disk to eliminate inconsistencies in the file system on disk.

Maybe I am reading too much into "This will also clear most CFW package settings." on the Firmware Downloads page. I run quite a few packages (assuming it's the same as "CFW packages"); will I need to remember how I have set them?

It's not very difficult to screen-shot the WebIF >> Settings.
It's as dull as ditchwater though, as there can be many pages, it's tedious to re-enter it all, and not everything in flash is on those pages.
I've got an idea for a better way, but need to try it and see how well (or if!) it works.

And Most of the webif settings are stored on disk rather flash memory and wont be lost,
Do we we have a list of which settings are actually stored in flash?
