Yeah, thats the box the trial users are using apparently.. Humax were the only ones who could get a box out in time.
 
It's pretty obvious to take an existing hardware base with the necessary features and program it to the new requirement.

They will have needed to upgrade the Broadcom chip to a later version and to add more memory. Probably just re-using the form factor, PSU and front panel controller (Micom)

Yes, it's possible, but I believe they need to double its speed (to 950 MHz). There might be some leverage in the fact that it's dual core though.
