That log shows a successful removal of one 4min ad break starting 4:05 into the recording, but the length of the programme as reported by the detection software was 22 seconds different from the actual recorded programme length (can be caused by a poor signal and noise in the recording) so the crop might be in the wrong place by up to 22seconds. When there is that much difference DetectAds does not delete the original recording.

You mentioned you have two recording files - the shorter version will be the cropped version and the longer the original with bookmarks at the adbreak

Play both and see if there is a difference about 4 minutes into the recording

Tip If you press the play button whilst it is already playing it will show the positions of any bookmarks and you can use the left/right arrow keys to move through the recording
 
I appreciate your explanation and thank you. I did the test recording this morning and the adverts were spliced out although the introduction to the batch of adverts was retained. It is hugely better.

[ Is there a solution to the poor signal and noise? Is some of this due to the humax?
I have had an engineer in about the aerial and he said the signal was at the right strength. He tested it at the humax / tv end.

I can no longer record 2 programs at once and have been getting reports for some channels of recorded programs not being replayable or Zero length. I am also getting fragmentation depending upon the rain.]

Possibly not if your aerial and cable are in good condition, the signal strength information on the webif diag pages is a snapshot taken at last retuning so not current - there is a way of getting live signal strength but I cant remember how at the moment

Several people have reported one tuner failing but no reports of reliable repairs - the live signal strength might help with this.

I have also seen zero length recordings - the cause is unknown but is possible caused by broadcaster problems.

I developed the schedchk package (in the advanced section of the package catalog) to attempt to detect and correct problems in the recording schedule including programmes not recording, it is not perfect but can fix some ptoblems
