I have a 1TB USB drive formatted NTFS connected to my HDR-T2.
I use the ntfs-3g package to allow me to write to this USB, and for a long time it worked well with no issues at all.
After upgrading the CF to the latest version, I started to get errors when I try to read / write from the USB
It works ok for maybe 15 minutes , and after that I get an "input/output error" when I access the drive.
If I dismount the drive and remount it , it works OK again for a short while.
The drive is fine. It checks out OK with a windows chkdsk. I also get the same problem with a second 1TB USB.
I downgraded the firmware to 1.03.12_mod_2.23 and did an RMA , and re-installed all the packages.
But the problem still exists...
So I upgraded to the latest version again and I am living with the problem on the latest firmware.
As a workaround, I have set up a cron job that checks the USB every 10 minutes.
If it detects a problem with it, it remounts the USB.
The 10 minute check script simply touches a file and checks for an error.
This has the effect of keeping the disk "alive", as it very rarely (if ever) has to perform a remount
It might be that the drive is going to sleep after a period of inactivity which is causing a problem.
But it did used to work, and would wake up/ spin up without any problems. I considered adjusting the sleep timeout on the disk but cannot find a way of doing this. The Seagate utility to adjust the timer does not work for this paricular drive.
I believe the problem is with the ntfs-3g package. The version available for the humax is 2013.1.13-2
This is not the latest version that can be found for other unix systems which I believe to be 2014.2.15
So I was wondering if anyone else has had the same problem.
Ideally I would like the latest version of the driver, but dont know how to acquire/build it for the humax.
Thanks in advance...
