    SATA controller and format roadblock.

You are absolutely right. I spoke to humax, and there is a piece of software in the hb1000s not present in the hdr1000s which allows the recording etc to a usb hard drive. The tech advised me to buy an hb1000s and stick the hard drive into that. Think I'll do just that. Thought people would...

    SATA controller and format roadblock.

An update on my original post. A new HDD did not solve the problem. I called Humax, and after a few questions they came to the conclusion that the situation was non-recoverable, declared the HDR 1000s dead, and offered a refurb for £120. I then removed the disc drive and discovered that the...

    SATA controller and format roadblock.

After a couple of months of relatively smooth running, my (ebay purchased) 1000s came up with a message that I need to format the hard drive. Unable to pause live tv

I said "time will tell", and it has told. As I was afraid it would. The dreaded "time shift buffer" message is back, and even doing the recording>buffer trick which worked before does nothing. I shall probably have to resell the HDR 1000S on ebay and reinstall my old Sony freeview recorder. Are...

    Unable to pause live tv

Thanks for your comment. I can only hope that you are right. Time will tell. In any case, I had an additional problem (didn't want to overload my original query) whereby my single LNB, split to my Freesat TV and the Humax was showing a bad signal to either one or the other depending on which...

    Unable to pause live tv

Txs Tarmac. The pause was not working since last night. I did as you suggested and checked the settings. My recording buffer was ON. I changed it to OFF - no joy. So I changed it back to ON and, hey presto, the pause worked! Coincidence? Who knows? What on earth is going on!?

    Unable to pause live tv

I have read all of the above, and hope that this thread is still alive! My problem with pause and rewind - which results in the "time shift buffer" message - is that it is intermittent. Sometimes all is OK and sometimes not. I have both reset to factory settings and formatted the disc - neither...
