Ignore this. I fixed it. I tried a manual recording, and that brought it back to life with the correct date.

My HDR-Fox T2 recorder has reset the date to 2nd Jan 1971. There does not seem to be any way to reset it manually. As a result, the EPG is blank. I've done a couple of power cycles, but to no avail. It has also lost contact with the internet, but this is the lesser worry.

That did it! Of course, the traditional IT Crowd advice. I should have thought of that myself. I was just assuming (wrongly) that there was some principled reason for the strange behaviour. :-)
