Lost picture settings on switch off

Hi, appreciate any advice on this one. I have a PVR-9300T which works perfectly apart from one oddity. I set up the machine, tuned in and set the picture settings to 16:9 and 720P to get the best picture on my widescreen led tv. If I leave the unit switched on all is fine; if I put it in...

    Non Freesat mode

Hi, can anyone tell me if the Foxsat HDR can tune in to the Hotbird satellite? Obviously the dish needs to move, I think Hotbird is at 13 degrees east rather than the 28.2 degrees for Astra/ Freesat.

    No access to media section.

I wouldn't bother testing the disk unless you have a problem. From what I've heard the Humax test routine is very basic. Best way to test is to remove the disk, install it in a PC and use manufacturer's test software such as Seagate Seatools or Western Digital Data Lifeguard. To be safe back...

Humax FoxSat-HDR fault - am I correct in my diagnosis?

Hi Frogman23, just wondering how you got on with the Foxsat HDR or is it still u/s. I'm interested in case you decide to get rid because I have one which is not working - stuck on initial boot. I do know it works if I change the front panel so I'm on the lookout for spares.

    DC Power Connector

Thanks, I may find my own post about trying to unsolder the socket from the pcb.

    No access to media section.

I sometimes lose access to the hard disk on my HDR2000T, especially after it's been unplugged. Try this if you haven't already. 1 Unplug the recorder at the mains (note, the dc plug/socket contact can become unreliable if the plug is repeatedly taken out/pushed in). 2. Switch on your tv so...

    DC Power Connector

Hi, does anyone have the manufacturer and part number for the DC barrel connector socket on the HDR 2000T (and probably lots of other Humax products with separate DC power supply)? I have one which makes intermittent contact, a bit annoying when the cable moves and the recorder cuts out. I...

    Foxsat HDR front panel pcb

Very few and far between; people want high prices for units "Not working". Mind you, two of the not working units I picked up for £22.00 were a very easy fix and I did manage to get a working one for £3.20!

    Foxsat HDR front panel pcb

Is anyone well clued up on the Foxsat HDR front panel pcb? I have a unit which refuses to boot up properly, leaving an on screen message "loading update" or "loading channel data" - something similar to these messages. The loader software is 7.54 but I can't see which software version it's...

    Desoldering the DC power socket

Just thought I'd come back to say I recovered my HDR2000T. In the end I removed the pcb and cut away the plastic on the old power socket leaving just the metal tabs. I could now see which tab corresponded to positive DC in, Negative DC in and switched. I cut the metal tabs to leave enough...

    Desoldering the DC power socket

May be able to join the lugs from the panel socket directly to the old lugs if I'm careful cutting them. I prefer to do as little as possible on modern pcbs, they're just a bit too delicate.

    Desoldering the DC power socket

You must have read my mind; I had a mental picture of the socket with its solder already done, sitting in an oven to solder the surface mount components. I think the solution may be to cut off the plastic from the original socket, shorten the lugs and solder leads on going to a panel mount...

    Desoldering the DC power socket

Just soldered a job on some Black and Decker garden shears and it was thermally bigger than the Humax job. I'm wondering if there's a coating on the joints stopping them wetting and heating up.

    Desoldering the DC power socket

Multicore solder with flux, the iron is 15 watts I think and has tackled bigger jobs than this. If it comes to the crunch, I'll carefully cut the old socket off, leave the shortened lugs in the board and use a chassis mount socket with short flying leads soldered to them.
