I have explained all of this already, I'm unsubbing from this thread.

Are any of the DTR series reliable?

I am with Plusnet and have prevented my box from updating so I can't take a picture, and am only going on complaints I have read online. But here are some Google results: http://www.ispreview.co.uk/index.php/2017/03/retail-youview-iptv-set-top-box-owners-annoyed-bt-talktalk-logos.html...

Are any of the DTR series reliable?

As I said I have prevented my box from updating and am only going on what I have read on the Youview forum where a number of people, with mostly retail boxes, have complained about the BT branding within the Youview interface which was either not there before or just less apparent. The skin...

Are any of the DTR series reliable?

No way back I'm afraid, the branding is dependent on the ISP used to connect the box to the Internet. I understand it's more prominent now but obviously haven't seen it as I've prevented my box from updating.

Are any of the DTR series reliable?

All functions work, the 7 days back EPG, all the online players as well. I started blocking over a month ago. From the wireshark logs it seems that all the individual on demand apps update from their channels servers not Youviews. My plan is to hold out until functions that I use are...

Are any of the DTR series reliable?

In my opinion you should be wary of it as it degrades the usability of the box. And this should certainly be considered if looking to buy a Youview box as the OP is. I have managed to avoid it by blocking the boxes Internet access overnight and blocking certain domains it tried to access when...

Are any of the DTR series reliable?

I would be wary of the new update that has been pushed out to Youview boxes. It has removed quite a few functions and changed the way you view recordings and navigate around recorded content.

    Avoid NextGen update

Here's a post on the official Youview forums that explains a way of blocking the NextGen update which removes features and turns the recordings section of the box into a complete mess...

    Recommend Me a Router

I'm pretty sure most non ISP routers can do that nowadays. On mine I have used a USB HDD and a USB pen drive successfully as a network share and also a UPNP server.

    Recommend Me a Router

You get OPKG, do adblocking on the router, run minidlna... Advanced VPN settings (openvpn), better DDNS support.

    Recommend Me a Router

It's a good place to see what new models can be flashed. It's very easy to do yourself and not worth paying the premium to get someone else to do it.

    Recommend Me a Router

I have an ASUS AC68U running Merlins custom firmware. It's rock solid performance wise. If you're a 'tinkerer' or want more advanced features I would look for routers that can be flashed with ddwrt, openwrt or another custom firmware.

    Universal Remote

PC world currently has a few one for all remotes on offer. The ones with the learning function will allow you to replace any IR remote, as long as the universal one has more/same number of buttons.

Poll Should Freeview make up their minds which channel numbers to use for each channel?

I don't think the retunes are constant, I think all Freeview equipment should made to be able to cope with these sorts of changes.
