Thanks, still good advice, timeshift failed recently, following your advice purchased a sata to usb lead, downloaded Rufus, and Ubunto.iso Rufus made a usb bootable drive. F12 my laptop and ran Ubunto, disk utilities to repair file system, on the largest partition 2. Took 20 minutes maximum.
