    CIFS issues (again?)

Absolutely. I get annoyed when searching through a thread to find that the resolution hasn't been added. So here's the problem. my /mod/etc/exports file looked like this :- "/mnt/hd2" 0.0.0.0/0.0.0.0(rw,async,insecure,no_root_squash,all_squash,no_subtree_check,anonuid=0,anongid=0)...

    CIFS issues (again?)

Arrgghh. Why is it that as soon as I post something, I see the solution? The answer was staring me in the face in #5. It was a typo in the exports file so usual, the problem lies between the keyboard and the chair!

    CIFS issues (again?)

It worked for a little while but I've had a change of drives and now it's all stopped working. I have a 2TB USB drive hanging off the back of the box and despite specifying the mount in the exports file, I can't access it from my linux machine. If I look at the permissions (the error in linux...

    [network-shares-automount] package released

What *is* a WebDEV share? I can only find WebDav shares which are calendar shares (I think).

    CIFS issues (again?)

I've never used NFS before, that's really the only reason. I've now installed NFS on the Humax and then reconfigured the fstab file on this machine and I can mount the usb drive which is attached to the Humax but I can't see the subdirectories such as the iPlayer folder. Ah, of course. <Slaps...

    CIFS issues (again?)

OK. I added the and set it to NT1. I then rebooted the Humax and then logged in to this machine which is running Mageia 6 linux. Uname -a produces this :- Linux Mageia6 4.14.10-desktop-1.mga6 I still couldn't mount the shares on the Humax so looking at dmesg on this machine I saw this :- CIFS...

    CIFS issues (again?)

Back in June of 2017 I posted a question about NFS (https://hummy.tv/forum/threads/network-shares-automount-package-released.1126/page-35#post-111228). Following a recent update of my linux machine I'm finding that I cannot access the shares on my Humax HDR-T2 machine. I seems it's related to...

    Playing MP3s times out

I found that out :-) Having played with m4a files and some more MP3 files (created from both .ts files and from get_iplayer recordings), it seems that I can now play audio files without them timing out. So I'm happy to close this and thank everybody for their help. I'd like to say that I know...

    Playing MP3s times out

I have to confess that I've never used the WebIF for that purpose. I do use it to download video files but normally manipulate audio files elsewhere as I rarely record a radio prog on the HDR. I did do that over the weekend though but haven't yet had time to do anything with them so I'll...

    Playing MP3s times out

Can you tell me how you do your conversion please? I've recorded a couple of radio programmes today and I'd like to try and replicate what you do to test the playback function. That way I might begin to get to the bottom of why my machine doesn't play the whole file. Thanks.

    Playing MP3s times out

I use an HP Proliant server to download the iPlayer files and it runs a script to convert the m4a files to mp3, including sorting out times if there is an extra hour in there due to BST. That extra hour confuses some more scripts I run if I need to split the MP3 file in to half-hour segments to...

    Playing MP3s times out

Sorry. Yes that is what I mean.

    Playing MP3s times out

Not sure if this is related to the Custom Firmware or not as I never tried playing MP3s before I installed the CF but here's the problem. I'm trying to persuade my Fox HDR machine to play MP3s which I've downloaded from the BBC using get_iplayer. I have had them on a 2TB USB disc but when the...

    [network-shares-automount] package released

It's difficult for me to call it a need as there's a simple workaround and it won't be me having to put in the work of adding the new software. But if you consider that it will cause a problem in future and should be fixed as it will affect others in time, then I'm happy to test the revised code...

    [network-shares-automount] package released

I've finally managed to fix this problem so am posting here in case somebody else suffers with the same issue in future. Part of the problem is the old version of samba on the Hummy but of course that won't change. The issue is the security setting in relation to passwords. I tried adding...
