Thanks Rodders53. Just had a quick spin through the channels I tend to record and it looks to be back to normal. Question is - do I trust it enough to switch back to auto record for this evening.
Still 'patchy' both across channels and within a single channel. Example, Young Sheldon scheduled to record 10:30-11:00 on E4. The recording started at 10:20 and continued after 11:00 until manually stopped at 12:26. The 'i' button on E4 still (at 15:10) showing the 10:30 to 11:00 information...
Checking using the 'i' button while watching live broadcast. I think this is what the schedule uses to stop and start recordings.
It's patchy, but some channels are still showing program information of what was being broadcast yesterday evening.
An example being E4 which is showing the Simpsons...
Julian,
2.5Mbit/s seems slow (to me). When I use FTP to move a recording from foxsat to PC, filezilla typically reports ~ 7MB/s which is around 50Mbit/s.
Topology.

Mark,
As the timeshift buffer file appears to have a playable version of the broadcast it suggests against being a decoding issue but I'm just guessing really. For information, I have custom firmware and nowster patch but can't see how either is relevant in this case.
Could do with someone who...
Same symptoms as described.
Tried recording a few minutes of the current broadcast program using the remote but when the recording was stopped the on screen interface reported the the recording was less then 30 seconds and nothing was saved. Pausing and restarting Live TV didn't appear to work...
Sorry I hadn't twigged you were using the pull downs for the Notifications set up
I'd never needed the pull downs and so didn't realise there was a pop up behind them.
Matching the SMTP relay settings to what I used in Custom Server Settings for Notifications just worked (for my provider - gmx)...
You're welcome, happy to try to help.
That's good, what status is reported ?
That's what I've called the 'real world account' for want of a better description.
Information related to the real world account is used in three places on this set up.
1) The account that the NAS uses to send...
I started from the point of having the NAS set up as a client sending status notifications via a real world mail service to other email accounts.
I assume you have that working. If not, get it working with whatever current security protocols your real world mail server demands before moving on...
I'd imagine what you need to do varies between products. What brand of NAS do you have?
If your NAS is set up for mail notifications of monthly reports etc. then the NAS is working as a regular client with your provider.
This is fairly standard. You need something extra to allow the old tech...
Could be several things, including authorisation.
Hard to diagnose with the tools available and information provided.
I gave up trying to interface obsolete clients to email providers a couple of years ago.
The workaround I have is to use an email relay on the LAN.
My relay runs on a NAS, but...
A 'blank Finder window' for an FTP connection may or may not be right.
If it is a working FTP session, then I'd expect to be able to navigate around the Humax file system in order to download selected files to the Mac.
I'm not familiar with Mac so not sure what a working FTP connection from a...
It has been a while, but my recollection is that by default there is no need for credentials to access the web interface.
Assuming the address you have used (192.168.55.108) is correct, the fact that you are being asked to sign in implies an account has been set up to protect the web interface...
