    Ways to reduce HDD noise?

I've had the custom firmware on the box pretty much since the day I bought it - I'll give the diags a go; cheers. Mick

    Ways to reduce HDD noise?

Good points - thanks. I've owned the box from new (over three and a half years now). It still has the original drive, although I'm happy to swap it out if the existing one is on its last legs. Mick

    Ways to reduce HDD noise?

Well, the soft Acoustifeet arrived yesterday and yes, peace has resumed! We can still (just) hear the hard disc spinning but the irritating drone has completely gone. Thanks everyone who chipped in with comments and suggestions. Mick

    Ways to reduce HDD noise?

Hi - our HDR-FOX T2 sits on an open shelf beneath the tv, and there's a small amount of mechanical hum that comes from the box when it's on, possibly exacerbated by the glass shelf it sits on. This isn't that noticeable when watching programmes via the T2 but if it comes on to record during the...

    Amazon Prime

I have an Apple TV and AirPlay the Prime videos to it from my iPad. Still somewhat clumsy but it avoids trailing cables, and the picture is fine. Mick

Will I cause problems if I power down during fix-disk?

Quite possibly the cause. I've now deleted the file but did double check before doing so that the problem occurred at the same point each time so the recording was 'damaged', for want of a better word. Mick

Will I cause problems if I power down during fix-disk?

Connections are ok, and the breakup was on a programme recorded on the beeb shortly before Christmas; I've definitely done a retune since then so if that was indeed the issue I'll probably never know. Basically, the picture froze for a moment, with it being broken up somewhat as well. It...

Will I cause problems if I power down during fix-disk?

The test ran and found no errors, so would this possibly mean my handful of glitches were down to issues during broadcast? Mick

Will I cause problems if I power down during fix-disk?

Well, I just kicked off the long test and it's estimated that it will take 218 minutes so that's fine with me. No need for interruptions as it should be done by morning, power cuts notwithstanding! Mick

Will I cause problems if I power down during fix-disk?

Thanks af. I'd already decided to run it without interfering with it. Just need to find the right time... Mick

Will I cause problems if I power down during fix-disk?

Thanks for that, Ezra. I haven't run it yet but a friend who also has the 1TB model started fix-disk on his one evening and it still had a fair way to go when he went to work the next morning, so I wanted to find a neat way to stop it if it became necessary to do so. Thanks again Mick

Will I cause problems if I power down during fix-disk?

Hi all - as above - I very occasionally get picture breakup on recordings so I suspect that I may be getting HDD errors. I realise that fix-disk takes a long time to run; if I decide it's taking too long and need to use the machine, is there a 'nice' way to stop it? If not, will a power down/up...

Loss of audio sync on MP4 playback with [network-shares-automount]

Hi all - I've converted a series of DVDs to .mp4 files with Handbrake and, using [network-shares-automount], I view them across my network on my Humax HDR. However, one has out-of-sync audio when played on the Humax but is fine when played directly on a PC. Any ideas on why only one of several...
