    Signals: September 23rd or thereabouts

Will check when I make new recordings and report back. Nothing to support my hunch, but a lot of people reporting issues. Can't understand all these drives failing at the same time regardless of high or low usage, without some external influence. My other hunch is the electric storm which...

    Signals: September 23rd or thereabouts

Copied from my Post on MYHumax. On my 5000T, a couple of days ago I watched a BBC4 recording from last weekend, which, about a third of the way through, started to exhibit the same early problems I had with the FoxT2. Freezing then skipping and restarting. Thankfully my attenuator arrived...

    HDR-Fox T2 vs FVP-5000T

Will try this tonight Yes, it was a broken icon initially - it was just the second item I'd recorded in the life of my ownership (~1 week) and the first HD recording. But it wouldn't let me cycle back to the beginning - if I used the fast backward button I could see the pixellations, but I...

    HDR-Fox T2 vs FVP-5000T

It definitely seemed to slow either my network or wi-fi reponse times. But in any case I'm not mad about devices being always on for security reasons. But my router has solved this issue by my blocking the device through most of the day. (I also now get text on the EPG rather than the...

    HDR-Fox T2 vs FVP-5000T

Hi Graham, In the interest of science ;-) I have turned it back to auto. will monitor which shows are cut-off. Inresting my naff recording was the only HD one I've tried...tomorrow will tell. Kit starting to be a bit buggy. I tried to set record on a program for 1 am-ish tonight on Beeb4 -...

Thanks Black Hole. Boy am I confused.com. According to http://www.aerialsandtv.com Crystal palace is the most powerful trasnmitter in the country. But as I'm 29km away, no line of sight, in a dip, I'm baffled at such a strong signal. And again, why no problems with my telly. Have just made...

    Signals: September 23rd or thereabouts

Update. I have just discovered a recording fail on my sparkling new FVP 5000T, same pixellation, same jumping, same issues. On that piece of kit the signal strength is showing 100% (am going to get an attenuator and I'll use a cheap indoor aerial until then. ) I reckon something DID happen to...

    HDR-Fox T2 vs FVP-5000T

Update on the above. 7) I managed to block the device from broadband via my router - this can be set by ranges of hours. So I might give it an hour a day if that's needed. This has helped with 1) - Now I see text instead of piddly little icons 8) is now resolved (yes it was Fat32) and I'm...

    HDR-Fox T2 vs FVP-5000T

Thought I'd list on here things you should know if you are going to upgrade from the T2 to the latest offering. I don't know about the previous versions of the FVP, so it's possible they are better than this. If anyone has found a work around for any of these points I'd be grateful. Edit: See...

    Humax FVP-5000T

Well just discovered HHGTTG, that the only way to turnoff wifi is to do a Factory Reset!!! This is apalling. Poor security. At least with my telly I can put in a wrong password. With this box - if I do that - it just goes back to the correct password. It's awful. and I have a list pf...

    Humax FVP-5000T

Manual is here. (scroll down to the bottom) Sadly it seems user cannot *rename* files or folders. Cannot create folders??? I am bereft. No point, therefore, in anything bigger than 500GB as I'll use external drives for 'organised storage'. Good to see it recognises NTFS format though :-)

    Humax FVP-5000T

As my T2 (1TB) is on it's last legs HDD-wise I am thinking of sourcing a 5000T. I note that John Lewis are selling the 500GB version with a two year guarantee. But they are not selling the 1/2TB versions at all. I wonder if there's an insider on here who knows if these higher density disks are...

    Signals: September 23rd or thereabouts

Just for information mine is : strength wavering 76-78 (ch22/23) but up to 80 on a couple of other channels. All with 100% quality all the time. I live in a frost pocket and therefore slightly limited field of view.
