Using a usb stick to record to via the HD hasn't been proved. It looks like you'll need a 20Gb+ stick as the HD requires that amount to alloacte to storage.

Have managed to get an old usb drive from my wife's work, and that seems to be working fine. So, won't be going down the usb stick route i'm afraid.

Ezra, I was meaning to do it in place, i.e. set it to decrypt My Video, but not to do any sub folders.

I tried re-installing Samba but that had no affect. Then I noticed something - when viewing the HDR via Network on the laptop, a recording which was in-flight had the full naming convention (all the other files have the dos naming convention). I use Flatten and my own version of Dedup, so maybe...

Thanks. I used smb to set the mount. I will try removing Samba and re-installing. See how that goes. Can't do anything tonight as i'm in a tent in the back garden with my 4 year old!

HDR and HD are connected to my router via homeplugs. I can see both boxes on the laptop via Web-If, telnet and ping.
