I think I'll count my blessings with this until a more definite solution turns up. Both SD and HD long recordings are perfectly ok so long as the FOXT2 is allowed to warm up enough first, about 15-30mins for SD and 2-3 hours for HD, these times should improve as the weather gets warmer. Timer...

I currently have Highlander series 4 (Horror Channel 70 every weekday 8pm) set on series record, and was annoyed to see the Febuary 29th episode had been completely missed. Does the Fox T2 software/firmware have a problem with leap years, or is this more likely with the broadcaster/EPG?

Hm, apart from an optional backup feature and no requirement for a 400mb+ install of dotnet (or anything else for that matter), it just about does the same as Foxy but with a smaller footprint. Thought it was a bit of a late entry. Oh well, works for me, anyway!

Trying out Pot Player on my scoddy work PC, looks very promising! No picture oddities and from what I can hear of the sound, no VLC type problems there either. I'll leave it playing Raiders all the way through in the background (hope my superv doesn't see) and see how it goes. Too early to say...

I don't think its a dodgy recording as apart from the picture problems in mpc-hc and audio problem in VLC, its fine on everything else stand-alone I play it back on. The audio problem only occurs on PC when VLC is playing it back, it does it on both my I7 PC with 5.1 setup and my scoddy work PC...
