job done ....1TB pipeline firmware sc11 fitted,straight in formatted just tried to record and seems to work fine. Thanks for all the help..

never tried it.... ill sling the 1tb in when it gets here. the 500gb should have worked. the old original unit had no jumpers set.

ok new pipline 500gb hd was not recognized even after a format and partition copy from old hd I did a further test and hooked up a standard old 1tb Maxtor desktop drive(2013), and again the humax asked me to format the drive. there must be a difference in the 2 pipeline drives, the humax does...

I have mirrored the drive. just off to try it ....will also try another non AV/dvr desktop drive see what that does

ok I have copied the partition table from old hd dumped it too the new hd. Need to find cluster size for ext2 to format new hd.(I assume its 4kb) this will be my last attempt on the 500gb (unless someone has a brainwave) I could switch the controller boards from the 2 hd's but I cannot be...

it is exact the one I am trying to install now 500gb st3500312cs....I have ordered a further 1gb drive just in case I can't get this one working

the model that did not work was a st3500312cs. firmware is exact same as old one and exact same model. only thing that's different from label is serial number/date code and last 3 digits of the part number

ok I have just tried an old sata laptop hd and the humax offers to format it. I have just ordered a ST1000VM002. Which should work.

nope....storage is still greyed out. Anyone got any other ideas. (my final try would be to take partition table from old Drive and transfer to new one + format to ext3)

Not tried that.....will give it a go now...

New hd has been tested on a desktop , its been formatted to fat32 and also ntfs. So I would assume new hd is good.

now trying stock and a system flush tried 2 latest original firmware's 1.03.12.....(27/02/2014) 1.02.32.....(31/01/2013) They still have storage greyed out.

Surely if the sata controller was gubbed. Then it would not record/delete ? I have tried stock 1.03.12
