    Should I update firmware?

As you will have gathered I'm of the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" tendency but I'll give it a go. Thanks.

    Should I update firmware?

True, but as they still work no problem unless I want the upgrade. We have a near 30 year old Amiga 500 that still works, though to be fair there have been a few developments in computing since that it can't take advantage of! Sorry I misread your original reply.

    Should I update firmware?

Of course - stupid me, I misread his post and thought he was proposing updating the hummy firmware. I'll have a look at the cf update. Many thanks.

    Should I update firmware?

I'm inclined to leave that until something I use stops working, but with unsupported ( ie "stable" ) software that sounds unlikely. Wouldn't I be opting for the certainty of a slower epg against the possibility of a future unknown glitch? Maybe some sort of external change, in broadcast format...

    Should I update firmware?

I still run with Humax firmware v1.02.32 and CF v2.20. I never use the Portal ( let's be honest - it's pretty crap ) and for anything but live TV I stream from my iPad via appletv. So given that is there any convincing reason for me to update either firmware? The later Humax firmware doesn't...

How to display videos from my iphone onto the humax?

I forgot - if you use iCloud the Apple TV will also access that.

How to display videos from my iphone onto the humax?

Try the Apple TV box. It's currently around £60 and works brilliantly. I use it to stream Netflix, BBC iplayer etc from my iPad. I long ago gave up on the Humax TV portal and just stream. You can use AirPlay on apps that support it or mirroring for others. A few actively block streaming - CH4...

    LED lighting

No, I took the bulbs back but I'll look on the website. My thought was the same but comparing the LEDs with the old halogen lamps there was no obvious difference. And as I said I tried them in 3 fittings of 2 different types. Actually I remember now buying the same type of lamp ( but I think a...

    LED lighting

I bought a couple of LED spots from Homebase the other day - SES fitting allegedly equivalent to 35 watt halogen. Neither lamp worked in 3 different fittings. The fittings work with other lamps and the contacts seemed to be correct sizes. Took them back to store and tried them in one of their...

    Playerxtreme on ipad

I've just installed Buzzplayer HD and that appears to work. I still can't see all the files on the Humax or those on the nas directly ( can see them via the Humax ). Early days but progress! Still no idea why so much hassle.

    Playerxtreme on ipad

I've read the posts linked above but I'm still baffled. I'm not very familiar with DLNA, streaming etc ( I didn't really need to say that did I ? ) I have a seagate Central nas on which I have a number of hummy recordings. All I want is to be able to play these ( and recordings on the Humax...

    Playerxtreme on ipad

Encouraging prpr! I thought I read somewhere that plex was no more BH. ?? I have got xbmc on my Mac and that streams ok so maybe I can get an iPad version of that.

    Playerxtreme on ipad

Well, TS is on the list of supported formats. The player is well reviewed and I'm pretty sure TS was mentioned by some reviewers. Also I can't see why only some recordings appear on its list. If I can't make it work are there any good and simple alternatives? I got nowhere with VLC - it...

    Playerxtreme on ipad

Has anyone used this media player with the HDR? I installed it and upgraded to the pro version ( essential if you want to do anything ) and initially it looked good. It found the HDR and my NAS. It found the video folder and listed a number of files, though not all. But then when I try to play...

    Power consumption

Yes, marketing label. Shocking isn't it? Technics also had a class AA. Like class A but double plus good! The key was in the "New" class A. In my experience "New" generally means "Not". Remember New Labour? You may well be right about the pre-amp stages. Class A is normally used with reference...
